Next to me is a couple of paragraphs about the daily life in Rome. It describes what they do daily with certain subjects: |
Rome was a very civilized place. It had many different ideasabout what to do durning the day with such things to occupiy themsleves. Here comes a rich villager passing by now! Lets go ask them some questions now.
“Hello villager where are you heading? Can I ask you things about your life here in Rome?” I am nervous because I don't know how Romans attitudes are. “Sure you can, but can I ask what for?” he was a polite gentlemen although he seemed in a hurry. “Oh yes how rude of me. This is for a recording of Roman civilization of wealthier people in Rome. It would be highly appreciated if you could tell me main things such as what you do for entertainment, where and what you do for your religion purposes, how your military uses strategies to protect your city. Lastly, what does someone high up as yourself do and get daily as compared to poor people?” “I dont know what you are hoping to find out, but I will help you. I do not know much about being poor anymore even though when I was it was very hard. A young boy not getting much food and can’t pay to entertain oneself is not the correct way to live. When you become richer more opportunities open up. Entertainment is going to the theater and sitting in front row where I had cushions whereas people on the very top row could barely see with hard stones for seats. Best lighting there is from the sun with no women allowed to act made the plays very understandable and funnier too.” he replied quickly as he was trying hard to not talk about how hard his past was,”I highly enjoy that, but I am not one that likes to be noticed so much. The next place the colosseum is where I feel unsafe from always being watched also in the front. The people who watch the fights blame the rich if one of theirs die, since most of the wealthy are unhappy by a boring fight they kill the victor of the fight also. Quite a sad thing to win a deathmatch with not even the reward of saying goodbye again.” I noticed that he was pacing back and forth thinking hard. I felt bad but I was still curious so i cut in,” I’m sorry to hear that. Is there anything else though?” The man's face grew bright. “ The place that I love the most! It’s called the circus maximus. There is no fighting just friendly competition. Betting on horses and running on hope. How it always should be. I feel the most accepted there because it’s fun thing to do. My personal favorite. I could show you sometime, but I have to leave to go to the Pantheon. Would you like to come along?” he walked away so I followed excitedly. After the pantheon he took me to a vila where he and many other Romans prayed for the gods and sometimes sacrificed things. This is also where they held ceromonies. It was a very fun day and I learned a lot in the day in the life of a Roman. |
